About Us: The Salvation Army’s Eliza Shirley House provides emergency housing services for homeless families (women and children) 365 days of the year. Position Overview: The Resident Advisor (RA) is to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for Emergency Shelter residents through the implementation and monitoring of shelter rules and regulations pertaining to resident conduct, fire safety, room conditions, conflict resolution and curfew restrictions. The RA conducts bag and room checks, answers the telephone, conducts intakes and discharges, accommodates new residents as they transition into the space, prepares a shift report, manages sign-in logs, responds to emergencies to ensure that, if necessary, residents are evacuated safely and efficiently, and responds to residents needs and request. The RA is to effectively communicate with the Case Worker, Shelter Program Manager, other RA’s and will perform other duties as assigned.

About the Red Shield Family Residence: The Salvation Army Red Shield Family Residence is a safe and welcoming emergency housing program offering loving, respectful, compassionate, and non-judgmental services in order to empower residents to strive towards self-sufficiency. All family configurations, including families with teenaged children, and single men with children are accepted. Primarily, we serve young mothers with infants and single mothers with school aged children. Many of the women served aged out of the City of Philadelphia Department of Human Services system and have found themselves unable to access safe and affordable housing for their families

Position Overview: The primary function of the Pathway of Hope case manager is to assign, monitor and organize cases for social work. The case manager must be highly organized, empathetic, compassionate, nonjudgmental, and eager to help adults, children and vulnerable adults. as emotional management, applying for victim’s compensation, and how to adjust their independent living skills in order to return to a
pre-victimization status. The Milieu Worker works closely with the case manager to support the residents in meeting their individual goals
through helping residents fill out applications or paperwork. Milieu Worker will inform residents of information regarding victims’ compensation
claims and support in filing. The Milieu Worker is to effectively communicate with the house manager, other residential advisors, participate in
weekly client review, as well as team meetings in order to create a trauma informed environment.

Position Overview: The Monitor will be responsible for the safety and security of the emergency shelter guests and the permanent housing program guests. The Monitor will track the entry and exit of all guests and visitors, they are responsible for maintaining the condition of the shelter, enforcing rules, general office, clerical and phone work, intakes and exits, cleaning and preparing guest rooms, meal preparation and reporting guest issues to the caseworker.

The facility is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with trained staff who work diligently to meet the basic needs of the clients. Maintain shelter cleanliness by assigning chores to program participants.
