Schedule: Mon – Fri; 8:30 am – 4:30 pm
Scope & Purpose of Position: Case management within the Pathway of Hope is a process by which skilled helper partners with a family with a desire to take action to plan for and achieve realistic goals over time (i.e., attaining self-sufficiency). This comprehensive and holistic case management approach extends beyond providing relief, a one-time service, or meeting urgent needs. Case managers walk alongside their clients and accompany them from start to finish. Serves as a primary point of contact, assisting clients in coordinating necessary services and resources to address the client’s complex needs. Case management relies on the clients to play an active role in their development.
The Housing Specialist assists homeless families in their pursuit of permanent housing. The Housing Specialist manages relationships with brokers, landlords, NYC housing, supportive housing, and any and all other housing options so that a steady stream of housing referrals can be accessed and provided to the families residing within the shelter. The Housing Specialist coordinates trips into the community to view available apartments, accompanies clients for intakes into different housing, and/or provides the clients with the means for viewing all housing options. The Housing Specialist conducts housing workshops in the program on the areas of program education, interviewing with a landlord, paying your bills, and any other topics deemed necessary to support movement and long-term placement into the community. The Housing Specialist works together with the case management team to ensure all clients are actively engaged in their own exit strategy and discharge plan or is referring the client for next step or involuntary transfer.
The Peer Specialist will provide direct peer support services to clients, contribute to team planning, and assist with outreach and transitional care efforts in community settings. Most importantly, the Peer Specialist will draw upon his or her own lived experience to help develop and maintain the program’s culture of respect and focus on the client’s potential for returning to independent living. The Peer Specialist must possess the ability to engage and affect change through a person-centered model. The successful candidate will demonstrate initiative, flexibility, creativity and a collaborative spirit.
Under the direction of the Facility Manager, the Porter helps to ensure the facility is properly cleaned, safe and sanitary for all residents, staff and visitors into the building. The Porter helps to complete work orders, minor building repairs and completes the cleaning of all vacant units within the regulatory time frame of four hours.
The Education Coordinator is responsible for developing services for the children residing in the shelter that are supportive, nurturing, and age appropriate. The Education Coordinator is the Child Care Liaison between the shelter and DHS. He/She oversees the childcare and recreation programs and provides support and assistance to the parents of all infant and school age children.
The Child Care Provider provides direct care to the youth that participate in the Family Shelter’s childcare and/or recreation programs The Child Care Provider should be patient, kind, and genuinely enjoy working with children of all ages.

Case Manager at Kingsboro Men’s Shelter MICA Program. This is a 143-bed facility located at 681Clarkson Avenue Brooklyn NY 11203. The Case Manager renders direct casework and/or group work services to residents and is responsible for assessing, referring, and follow-up of social services.

About the Emergency Housing Programs.:
The Red Shield and Eliza Shirley House are safe and welcoming emergency housing programs offering respectful, compassionate, and non-judgmental services. All family configurations that have children are accepted and we are open 24/7.
They both provide intensive case management services to support families to achieve self-sufficiency and work towards their housing goals.
Classification: Part-Time, Non-Exempt, 20-25 hours/week/36 weeks during the After School program, 2:30 – 6:30 p.m., may work up to an additional 5 hours per week to complete paperwork and program participation. This center’s location is in the Hilltop area on West Mound Street.
Salary: $17.00 per hour
Job Focus: This position provides leadership to the after-school tutorial program at a Learning Center site, including direct supervision of program assistants and all paid or volunteer tutors, continued relationship as liaison to local schools and implementation of curriculum and program evaluations.

QUALIFICATIONS

- Must have and obtain valid driver’s license

- Become Certified as an Emergency Disaster Services TSA responder within 6 months of employment

- Must have a valid driver’s license and ability to drive disaster vehicle safely at any time
- Must have basic computer skills with Windows and Microsoft Office

The principal function of the EDS Training & Administrative Coordinator is to provide foundational support to core areas of the MA EDS program including volunteerism, training, admin, and event/response assistance. This position works directly with the Director and Deputy Director. This job description is not all inclusive. It is intended to identify the essential duties of the position. Other duties, responsibilities and tasks may be assigned.
EDS Volunteer Support
- Seek to recruit new volunteers by identifying potential groups, sharing basic EDS volunteer information, and helping plan for initial 'EDS 101' presentations whether virtual or in person.
- Provide on-boarding for new volunteers with information 'package' and communication
- Support volunteer coordination at larger EDS events (i.e. Boston Marathon, extended responses, Castle, Back to School)
- Utilize National EDS Volunteer Database
Finance/Admin Liaison
- Review timesheets for EDS and submit to payroll in a timely manner
- Compile EDS statistics and send bi-annual report to EDS Director
- Track expenses/data on active open projects (ex CITGO grant)
- Take on finance and administration IMAT role during larger disasters in MA
Public Relations/Communications Support
- Provide tactical information/updates to DHQ EDS and Public Relations Director
- Post to approved sites (ex. EDS Facebook, MA EDS text group)
- Gather data from Corps Facebook sites during responses to share, repost, compile
- Request current information from field on active preparedness/operations (ex. Open Warming Centers)
Divisional EDS Training & Support
- Provide information to field about upcoming trainings, provide follow up certs/materials, track/communicate with registrants
- Complete core Sal Army EDS courses (Intro, Sal Army ICS, Canteen Ops, Essentials, ServSafe FH, Keep SAfe)
- Support and/or co- teach foundation level courses when requested: ex. Intro to EDS, ServSafe Food Handler, CPR/First Aid courses, KeepSAfe
Support Divisional EDS Responses/ Events
- Provide response support to active EDS needs including helping deployed teams on site, providing supply drops, reaching out to additional vols if needed
- Helping support Resource Recovery Centers or other response/distribution events
Logistics Support
- Pickup/deliver small donations (ex. Dignity Matters, canned goods from local companies, diapers, etc)
- Deliver needed supplies to EDS Corps (blankets, hygiene products, food, etc)
- Help with basic logistics, inventory, restocking at small EDS supply caches
Emergency Alert Support
- When requested, receive/ manage alerts of disasters in MA (including overnights) ; and share with DHQ EDS leadership at determined threshold
