The Salvation Army of the Syracuse Area
Overview: The Salvation Army of the Syracuse Area was recently awarded by the Department of Justice a grant to provide Functional Family Therapy to those "at risk" individuals between the ages of 11 to 18 with the overall goal to drive the reduction of "Gang Violence" within the Syracuse Community. It is an honor to be selected and we are seeking an individual to be a "trustworthy go-between", with ties to the community in which they will work, who has the drive, knowledge and compassion to connect with this "at risk" group of Youth in our community.
As an FFT-CW (Functional Family Therapy-Child Welfare) Case Planner II you will receive evidence-based training from FFTLLC consultants as well as ongoing consultation regarding working with at risk families and youth through the FFT-CW lens and utilizing the interventions of this model. You will be taught how to motivate families for change, assess family patterns, implement specific and individualized behavior change plans to address referral problems and relevant risk factors, and generalize changes in multiple systems. Working with a caseload of 10-12 families, the goal is to increase protective factors, while also reducing the risks associated with family safety, and prevent the need for out of home placement of children.
SEEKING: Dedicated individuals looking to begin or expand their clinical experience working with family systems and gain experience practicing an evidence-based model in a supportive work environment.

SCOPE AND PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The Volunteer Programs Coordinator serves as a support person to the Corps Officers at The Salvation Army in Troy and is responsible for managing volunteers and the programs in which they support, including the food pantry and soup kitchen. They are responsible for scheduling volunteers, maintaining accurate records for volunteers/community service workers and statistics, ordering for the food pantry and soup kitchen, and assisting in serving in the food pantry and soup kitchen. Position Overview: The REA LF primary responsibilities include but are not limited to facilitating The Salvation Army’s REA programming (After School, Summer Program, Family/Parent Engagement etc.) at Steelton-Highspire Elementary School as well as tracking & collecting data as outlined by the YFE Administrator. The REA LF is responsible for creating a quality nurturing and educational program environment by demonstrating proficiency in the assigned curriculum and effectively implementing lesson plans. The REA LF will use the Sonday system, Heggerty Phonemic Awareness, Journeys, Wit and Wisdom, Saxon, EnVision and Xtra Math curriculum as part of the academic component of REA. During the enrichment portion of the program, the REA LF will lead and facilitate the enrichment instruction (Nutrition, Character Education, Art, Music, CATCH, Kodable etc.) which actively engages the program participants in exploring new outlets for self-expression and holistically enriching skill development. The REA LF must able to instruct youth of grades K-6 and plan age appropriate lessons for each age group. REA LFs must attend all trainings and be willing to learn to assist with other assigned curriculums, implement lessons and support vendors/program partners. The REA LF will provide timely feedback from program participants & community partners and community outreach support as outlined in the REA Manual. This position is part-time employment with various hours to meet program needs for both summer and school year after school programs.
