Reporting to the Clinical Supervisor of the Program, Clinical Supervision is provided on a consistent and regular basis.The Therapist provides office and/or community-based clinical services to Youth with a current mental health diagnosis or at-risk of a mental health diagnosis.

The ages of the children range from 0-21.  The goal of our Clinical services is intended to help prevent the progression of mental health needs through early identification and intervention. We may also provide these services to children/youth in need of assessment for whom mental health conditions have not yet been diagnosed.

Position Details:  We have two open positions available within our Family Services Department. Flexible Schedule is available for this position. This position reports to the Children and Family Behavioral Health Program Manager

Part-Time, Hourly/Non-Exempt

Responsibilities

In the role of a Therapist for The Salvation Army, you are responsible for the following:

  • Provide comprehensive licensed diagnostic evaluation and assessment of assigned youth.
  • Treatment planning for the youth’s service plan and goals in collaboration with the youth and family’s active participation that offers a range of treatment options and document case activity in accordance with program protocol.
  • Provide psychotherapeutic counseling in varying treatment modalities including evidence-based practices with individual, family, and groups in an office or community-based setting.
  • Respond to crisis situations as needed either by telephone, in-person, or as a follow-up service.
  • Maintain liaison activities with collaborative partners included other service providers as part of service provider team.
  • Provide services and documentation in accordance with Medicaid billing and agency standards including communication with Medicaid billing authorities and other licensed practitioners involved in service delivery/treatment coordination.
  • Participate in mandatory and optional training.
  • Demonstrate cultural competence and trauma-informed practice, as well as integrate understanding into daily responsibilities and participate in meeting the objectives of The Salvation Army, Syracuse Area Services Strategic Plan.
  • Complete Medicaid documentation and billing according to NYS and agency standards and proceed with service without proper documentation for client referrals and recommendations to initiate services.
  • Responsible for maintaining timely completion of documentation and visit productivity to meet required fee for service billable units.
  • Other duties:  other duties as identified, developed and approved.

Qualifications

  • Work, Volunteer, Personal life and/or Internship experience with Children is preferred.
  • Master’s Degree/Mental Health concentration. MFT, MHC, MSW, Creative arts therapy,
  • Applicants may possess a "limited permit" working towards licensure
  • Enrolled in a related degree program can be considered for this career opportunity.
