Position: Resident Advisor
Location: PSSM - Red Shield Family Residence, 715 North Broad Street, Philadelphia
Availability of Position: Immediately (1 position available)
Schedule: Part-Time, 20-29 hours per week and On-Call various hours; Weekends and Holidays Required
Reporting Relationship: Shift Supervisor
Salary and Grade: $13.75 per hour; 73 Non-Exempt

About the Red Shield Family Residence: The Salvation Army Red Shield Family Residence is a safe and welcoming emergency housing program offering loving, respectful, compassionate, and non-judgmental services in order to empower residents to strive towards self-sufficiency. All family configurations, including families with teenaged children, and single men with children are accepted. Primarily, we serve young mothers with infants and single mothers with school aged children. Many of the women served aged out of the City of Philadelphia Department of Human Services system and have found themselves unable to access safe and affordable housing for their families.
The Resident Advisor is responsible for assisting the House Manager and House Management Supervisor in protecting the safety and welfare of shelter residents. A Resident Advisor answers the telephones, takes messages for staff and residents, greets visitors, and assists residents with their needs and concerns. A Residential Advisor also ensures that only authorized persons are admitted to the facility and makes regular rounds of the building to ensure an orderly and safe environment. Performs related duties assigned.

High School Diploma or GED, prior residential or customer service work experience, must be able to read, write and speak well in English, must have computer skills in Microsoft Word and Excel Programs and be proficient in and the ability to utilize the internet. CPR and Crisis Management Training, a plus. Child Protection Clearances PA Act 153 requires that all prospective employees complete the following clearance and background checks: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check. Must have an understanding of, and appreciation for, the Mission of The Salvation Army and the Sanctuary Model.
