Position: Learning Zone Site Coordinator                                                                     

Department: Philadelphia West Corps Community Center        

Availability of Position: Immediate

Schedule: Part-time Plus - 25 hours weekly

Reporting Relationship: Community Engagement Manager

Salary and Grade: $15.00 per hour; 74 Non-Exempt

Description of Position:          

The Learning Zone Site Coordinator is responsible for the overall operational management of the Afterschool and Summer Day Camp programs and associated staff at the Philadelphia West Corps, including maintaining the goals and objectives related to assigned curriculum, and maintaining excellent rapport with principal, school staff, tutors, parents, and students. Also, ensures the collection of pertinent data for reports and evaluations.


  • Organizes schedules, activities and other related materials.
  • Provides schedules and designated materials to teachers, students, and parents.
  • Maintains policies and procedures.
  • Promotes and coordinates activities, (Tutoring, enrichment) within the program.
  • Maintains program records for staff, students, and parents.
  • Develops reports and collects data, including statistical information, report cards, and surveys for the program. Submits and maintains payroll and billing information for tutors and general expenses.
  • Maintains effective communication and good rapport with all participants of the program, parents, vendors, and school staff.
  • Maintains site in expectation of an unannounced monitoring visit
  • Performs related duties as assigned.


  • Associate's degree in business/related field or High School Diploma, with three years of responsible experience in managing. coordinating and organizing programs for children or those funded by social service or government agencies.
  • Possess good interpersonal communication and strong organizational skills.
  • At least three years of experience working with children (i.e. Afterschool, daycare, church programs) and have willingness to work in a community setting.
  • Must have a valid driver's license with good driving record to be able to drive a Salvation Army vehicle.
  • Must be able to manage, plan, organize, and implement quality, creative children’s programs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • As a Mandated Reporter, must provide proof of having completed training on recognizing and reporting child abuse meeting the training standards of PA Act 153 of 2014 within 30 days of employment with recurrent training required every five years thereafter.
  • Meets the Child Protection Clearances required by PA Act 153 to include PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record Check.
  • Must possess an appreciation for and understanding of the mission of The Salvation Army.
