Overview:  The position of Clinical Therapist provides a unique opportunity to help family’s in crisis by providing individual and family interventions to those who have experienced various forms of violence in their lives. The goal of the clinical therapist is to help individual’s and family’s establish safety in their lives and begin healing from the trauma they have experienced

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and family interventions to adults and children who have experienced various forms of violence (including community, interpersonal and domestic violence).
  • Provide comprehensive intake, evaluation and assessment of prospective clients.
  • Initiate and maintain regular contact with assigned clients; conducing regular visitation and counseling sessions based on family or individual need.
  • Maintain case record, narratives and statistical information.
  • Devise and implement goals or visitation plans and interventions.
  • Provide court documentation and testimony as warranted, including recommendations to the court, attorney and other parties concerned, regarding custody or other case-specific clinical issues.
  • Demonstrate cultural competence and trauma-informed practice by integrating the understanding into daily responsibilities.
  • Service take place Monday-Friday but can be flexible between the hours of 8:30AM-7:30PM.
  • Participate in mandatory and recommended training programs.
  • Have the opportunity to be trained and practice Evidence Based Models.
  • All other duties as assigned or requested by Leadership including but not limited to: Working as part of an integrated service team with other public and private agencies and programs.

Qualifications

  • Minimum requirement of a Master’s Degree in a Human Services or related field with the ability to become licensed.
  • Relevant  work and/or internship experience in serving children and families in child welfare, developmental disabilities, behavioral health, primary health care, or social services
  • Experience coordinating and participating in team settings
  • Solid writing and verbal communication
  • Work effectively and knowledgeably across a broad spectrum of cultural, ethnic, and racial communities
  • Ability to work in an effective and focused manner when self-directed and beyond immediate oversight
  • Ability to deliver family-driven, youth-guided services
  • Requires computer proficiency including word processing skills and the ability to provide culturally competent practice
  • Must have valid driver’s license that meets The Salvation Army insurance requirements
  • Must have access to private transportation during work hours in order to provide home visits and outreach services
  • Provide assistance and /or intervention with children
