Director of Grants and Program Development
Scope and Purpose of the Position
The Salvation Army of the Empire State Division provides life changing programs and services in 48 upstate counties in New York. Over 600 human services professionals and clergy are engaged in human services programs serving infants and toddlers to some of the oldest members of our community touching adult individuals, youth, and families. Programs consist of; housing and homeless facilities and prevention, domestic violence advocacy and housing, children and adult care management, food insecurity, anti-human trafficking outreach and case management, early education centers, after school/youth enrichment centers, behavioral health for children and families in the child welfare and juvenile justice systems, substance abuse interventions and a national evidence based intergenerational poverty elimination strategy, Pathway to Hope.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Grants and Program Development Director is responsible for the researching, planning, development, writing, of funding applications to support the Salvation Army’s existing and expansion mission throughout the 48 upstate county area. Role includes grant and contract management, assistance with budget development and the development of quality monitoring components for all community and social service program delivery across the Division, assuring alignment with Mission and other strategic initiatives.
Along with the local professionals and clergy personnel, the director develops new funding initiatives also to address community gaps and needs in services. The director works with local, regional, and state coalitions and government agencies as appropriate to build relationships and partnerships. Passion for a mission that serves community neighbors struggling with the most need.
This position is a part of the divisional social services team and reports to the Divisional Director of Social Services for the Empire State Division
Experience and Skills Required
Bachelor’s degree (MSW, MBA, MPA preferred) with more than 5 years of successful work in grant development for multifaceted human services programs including housing serving a diverse client population with a diverse professional team.
Proven record in research, grant writing and experience in driving opportunities and applications for resource development (funding) and building partnerships/collaborations.
Experience with public funding sources and systems; NYS Departments, Federal/HHS and HUD, Regional Economic Development, and other city, county, and state resources including capital funding through HHAP and HCR.
