Position:  Evening and Weekend Coordinator         

Location:  Ray & Joan Kroc Corps Community Center, Philadelphia PA

Availability of Position:  Immediate

Schedule:  Part-Time up to 29 hours weekly (Must be willing and able to work weekends and evenings as may be required in performance of duties or requested to support the ongoing operations of the Kroc Center.)

Reporting Relationship: Operations Director

Salary and Grade: 77

Position Description:

The Evening and Weekend Coordinator (EWC) will provide oversight to all operating departments during the non-traditional workday.  The EWC will assure that all operating departments are appropriately staffed and will provide leadership support in areas that include (but are not limited to) 1) customer interactions, 2) rules enforcement throughout the center, 3) center-wide emergency response, 4) communication with internal and external vendors, and 5) campus closing procedures that assure the safety of all users and staff and the security of the campus.  The EWC will assure alignment of all staff efforts in support of The Salvation Army mission and the Kroc Center vision.  The EWC will work to learn, understand and apply The Salvation Army policies and procedures that will assure continuation of the Kroc Center’s nonprofit, 501(c) status. 



  • College degree in business or related field preferred.
  • At least 2 years of general business and/or operations supervisory experience, preferably in areas that include health and wellness, recreation, and aquatics, with an emphasis placed on customer service and staff relations.
  • Ability to complete work in compliance with Salvation Army policy and procedures.
  • Previous experience in working in a not-for-profit environment desirable.
  • Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, principles and processes related to exemplary customer service, including needs assessment and evaluation of standards related to quality improvement.
  • Must be willing to engage in complex problem solving by 1) reviewing relevant information, both individually and with others, 2) developing multiple options to solve issue, 3) considering the impact of all possible solutions, and 4) arriving at the most appropriate action that will benefit both the center and those involved (members, guests, staff).
  • Create and foster an environment of interdepartmental cooperation, with an emphasis on strategies that promote teamwork, productivity, and accountability.
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills, with consistent emphasis on communicating with both internal and external customers in a professional, positive, and service-focused manner.
  • Be able to identify and communicate a shared vision of Kroc Center success, recognizing the center’s overall accomplishments as a function of the efforts of each department to meet its established objectives.
  • Must be able to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Possess knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling Kroc’s many services. This includes marketing strategy and tactics, demonstrations, sales techniques, and sales control systems.
  • Be willing and able to monitor and assess performance of oneself, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements and/or take corrective action.

As a Mandated Reporter, must provide proof of having completed training on recognizing and reporting child abuse meeting the training standards of PA Act 153 of 2014 within 30 days of employment with recurrent training required every five years thereafter.Child Protection Clearances PA Act 153 requires that all prospective employees complete the following clearance and background checks: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check. Must have an understanding of and appreciation for the Mission of The Salvation Army.
