Overview

Ensure that the facility is clean to the highest standard and is able to function without interruption on a daily basis.  

Responsibilities

  • Represent The Salvation Army in a manner that brings glory to God.
  • Assist in every way requested to carry out the spiritual and total mission of The Cleveland Temple Corps of The Salvation Army in terms of community needs and our ministry of the people of our community.
  • Set up and tear down for special events / programs at the direction of the Operations Director and Corps Officers.
  • Maintain cleaning and sanitation techniques, while utilizing and operating commercial equipment.
  • Maintain cleanliness of building and property according to the following maintenance schedule:
    • Clean kitchen and dining room daily
    • Empty all trash daily
    • Clean floors, dust and pick up all rooms and hallways daily
    • Clean bathrooms daily
    • Prepare Chapel for Sunday Worship including vacuuming and setting up the platform for the band.
    • Clean interior glass and door glass daily and interior and exterior windows when scheduled
  • Maintain the appearance of the outside of the Corps, while utilizing and operating commercial equipment.
    • Snow removal and salted of sidewalks as needed
    • Pick up outside trash on the property including the playground
    • Trim and edge the grass and hedges as needed
    • Keep the weeds under control in the playground and flower beds
    • Clean vehicles on a weekly basis

 

  • Assist Director of Operations with supervision of custodial Community Service Workers, AARP Workers and volunteers daily or as needed.
  • Perform building repairs and maintenance repairs, as requested.
  • Assist in driving The Salvation Army’s vehicles for supplies, equipment or service as assigned.
  • Assist, as needed and requested, in the Christmas effort including kettles.
  • Takes pride in work and in the cleanliness of the building.
  • Attend community events, at the direction of the Corps Officers.
  • Assist with any other projects as assigned by the Corps Officers or Operations Director
  • Be able to adjust work schedule as requested

Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

 

  • Must be 21 years or older
  • Must have a valid Ohio Drivers License and be able to drive for The Salvation Army
  • Must have prior maintenance / janitorial experience

 

SPECIAL SKILLS, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

 

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and appropriate intervention skills required. 
  • Strong knowledge of available resources required.
  • Must be passionate about the Mission of The Salvation Army and the Vision of the Cleveland Temple Corps.
