Overview

GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB

 

Render ministerial, outreach, recreation and physical fitness services as the Recreation Program Coordinator to the East Cleveland Community, recognizing their spiritual, emotional, physical, and social needs – making full use of the Corps and community resources under the direction of the Corps Officers as part of the East Cleveland Corps Ministry Team.  Also, your function is to assist the Corps Officers with the day to day operations of the corps and to support and maintain the policies, procedures and overall well-being of the ministry, within the vision and goals of The Salvation Army, its Officers and the Corps.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES.  

 

  • Assists Recreation Coordinator in planning, organizing, developing, scheduling, enforcing rules, evaluating recreation, fitness, spray park, special events and facility rentals.
  • Assist with overseeing day to day recreation programs.
  • Coordinate and direct any and all athletic and recreational programs.
  • Organize tournaments (Ping Pong, Chest, Karate Classes, Basketball and Volley Ball League and other athletic activities.)
  • Continue to operate recreational programs during summer months.
  • Maintain statistics of all community center programs
  • Maintain current files on all young people involved in all activities (individual file per      program)
  • .Maintain all supplies and equipment
  • Assists with schedules of the Recreation program and supervises conditions of the facilities such as set-ups and breakdowns of facility equipment and resources
  • Conducts and attends a variety of training seminars, staff meetings, community and recreation meetings as needed.
  • Maintains inventory of supplies and equipment; distributes supplies and equipment, assists with ordering supplies and equipment for community center and its programs.
  • Assists with public relations duties such as preparing and distributing flyers, press releases, and brochures.
  • Provides clerical support with program registration, point of sale, facility booking, and membership registration for the center; administer rentals of the facility and , money intakes, etc.
  • Assists with the marketing and promotions of the facility including selling memberships.
  • Carry out other duties as assigned by the Corps Officers.
  • Participate in and support the implementation of special activities and events for the Corps as requested by the Corps Officer.
  • Assist with administration of seasonal programs (Christmas, Kettles, Back-to-School, and Summer Youth).
  • Assist with the registrations for all holiday activities, meals and toy programs.

Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

 

Must be 21 years of age.

Must have a valid driver's license with clean driving record.

Ability to drive 12 passenger van and pass required Salvation Army driving test.

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

Must have bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent experience.

Must have practical experience in youth work and recreational programs.
