Overview

Position: Social Services Coordinator                                                                                       

Location: Philadelphia Citadel Corps   

Availability of Position: Immediate

Schedule: Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, 9:00 am – 2:00 pm

Reporting Relationship: Corps Officers

Salary and Grade: $15.00 per hour; 75 Non-Exempt

 

Description of Position:          

The Social Services Coordinator is a part-time position whose primary duties are to provide leadership to the social services program, including organization, preparation, execution, management, and statistical collection.

Responsibilities

Duties

  • Oversee Daily Social Service Ministry, including, but not limited to, the food pantry, referrals, emergency assistance, etc.
  • Maintain ongoing relationship with PhilAbundance and implement weekly distribution program.
  • Maintain, through ordering and community donations, the onsite food pantry, as well as ensure it is maintained in an orderly manner and is appropriately stocked.
  • In collaboration with the Corps Officers, oversee and plan all aspects of the Christmas Toy Ministry, including:
    • Work with the Greater Philadelphia Operations Manager to insure there is an adequate supply of toys for the season.
    • Organize and plan both the application and distribution policies for the Christmas Toy Program.
  • Serve as the point person for The Salvation Army’s children’s summer camping program, including enroll, track applicants, and maintain records through “Camp Minder” on a timely basis.
  • Collaborate with other Social Service agencies, as needed.
  • Create and initiate opportunities for community based social service events.
  • As directed by the Corps Officers, attend neighborhood and town hall meetings to better collaborate with community partners.
  • Develop and expand relationships with the community and government agencies, as directed by the Corps Officers.
  • Maintain records, as per Salvation Army policy.
  • Input data into the statistical system, according to organizational guidelines.
  • Report to funders as required by grants/funds received on a timely basis.
  • Perform other tasks as needed, are appropriate, and assigned.

Qualifications

Requirements:                       

  • High School Graduate or equivalent; Bachelor degree a plus.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, as well as be approved by The Salvation Army’s driver’s insurance program.
  • Ability to driver 12 passenger vans, as well as pass the associated van test.
  • Experience in the not for profit/social services realm a plus.
  • Comfortable in an urban environment.
  • Highly organized and able to function in a busy environment.
  • Ability to prioritize and to set and achieve both short term and long-term goals.
  • Ability to complete reports on a timely basis.
  • Adherence to The Salvation Army’s Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.
  • As a Mandated Reporter, must provide proof of having completed training on recognizing and reporting child abuse meeting the training standards of PA Act 153 of 2014 within 30 days of employment with recurrent training required every five years thereafter.
  • Meets the Child Protection Clearances required by PA Act 153 to include PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record Check.
  • Must have an understanding of and appreciation for the Mission of The Salvation Army.
