Position:   Case Manager

Location:   PSSM - Red Shield Family Residence; 715 N. Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA

Availability of Position:  Immediate

Schedule:  Full-Time; Monday-Friday; Requiring some evening hours. 

Reporting Relationship: Emergency Housing Director

Salary Grade: 10 Exempt

The Case Manager works in a family shelter and is responsible for resident assessment, housing plan development and supports the family to move out of shelter successfully. The Case Manager has regular contact with the residents experiencing homelessness to assess progress/needs and works with the Clinical Team to provide trauma informed services. The Case Manager provides guidance and counseling to residents as needed, making referrals to social services not provided at the Red Shield or the Eliza Shirley House. Responsibilities such as the preparation of applications for housing, documentation of resident progress and of services, ensuring completion of required forms, staff consultation, running groups and other duties are assigned as needed.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or actively enrolled in Masters Degree in Social Work program.
  • Must be computer literate and skilled in Word and Excel. Must be able to negotiate the Internet.
  • As a Mandated Reporter, She/he must provide proof of having completed training on recognizing and reporting child abuse meeting the training standards of PA Act 153 of 2014 within 30 days of employment with recurrent training required every five years thereafter.
  • Meets the Child Protection Clearances required by PA Act 153 to include PA Child Abuse History
  • Must have an understanding of, and appreciation for, the Mission of The Salvation Army.
