Overview

The Financial Data Analyst will have responsibility for donation database importing and processing, property project data handling and reconciliation, budget template creation, import and export, SharePoint administration, Red Kettle Worker oversight, and other special projects as requested by the Divisional Controller and/or Business Administrator (BA).

Responsibilities

  • Working with Development, ensure the timely completion and accurate importing of gifts and grants/contracts revenue from the donations database (Salesforce).
    • Provide reports to the DHQ Fund Accountant and the Corps Accounting Manager to support the posting of such revenue in the respective accounting systems.
    • Reconcile donor database to accounting software (Serenic).
    • Establish data connections and automate imports/exports between donor database and accounting systems.
    • Provide dynamic data visualizations and analysis concerning various income accounts, campaign efforts, donor designations, etc.
  • Using SharePoint, Excel, Power Automate, and Microsoft Approvals, reconcile data for DHQ Property projects, ensuring that all Capital Projects are accounted for according to Salvation Army procedures and GAAP. Coordinate property-prepared project-related check requests between submission to THQ for funding and Accounts Payable for payment, coding as necessary.  Assign Project numbers as needed.
  • Serve as SharePoint site collection administrator for various inter-departmental collaborations.
  • Assist in the preparation of budget templates for DHQ and Corps using Excel, Power Query, SharePoint, and VBA.
  • Using MS Excel, SQL, VBA, Power Query, and/or PowerPivot, develop programs to collect, interpret, and analyze data. Identify patterns and trends in data.
  • As necessary, define new data collection and analysis processes. Using MS Excel, VBA, Power Query, and/or PowerPivot, develop programs to streamline the aggregation and mapping of financial data to create efficiencies with journal entry preparation and postings in Serenic.
  • Oversee training and divisional reporting for Red Kettle Worker (RKW), with a focus on booking and reconciling income.
  • Provide internal and external auditors requested schedules, analysis, and documentation.
  • Assist in the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing of the Division as needed.
  • Various analyses and schedule preparation as requested.
  • Other duties and special projects as directed by the Divisional Controller, BA, and/or Asisstant Finance Secretary.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Mathematics or Computer Science.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office software including Excel, Word & Outlook, Share Point as well as SQL, VBA, Power Query, and Power Automate.
  • Strong working knowledge of relational database concepts.
  • Logical thinker with ability to streamline processes.
  • Excellent analytical, mathematical, and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of Salvation Army accounting and auditing systems preferred.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work independently while maintaining a high degree of accuracy.
  • Must understand and appreciate the mission of The Salvation Army.
