What is AmeriCorps?
The Salvation Army’s (TSA) AmeriCorps Program has been serving the Newark Community for 12 years with sites in the South and East wards of Newark, NJ and Orange, NJ. TSA’s AmeriCorps Program is recruiting for our service opportunities at The Salvation Army Ironbound Boys and Girls Club of Newark (IBGC). AmeriCorps Members’ service will support The Salvation Army Ironbound Boys and Girls Club priority outcomes areas of Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles, Good Character, and Citizenship.
AmeriCorps is a network of local, state, and national service programs that connects over 70,000 Americans each year in intensive service to meet community needs in education, the environment, health, and disaster relief. AmeriCorps members serve directly with organizations and nonprofits to tackle our nation’s most pressing challenges.
Members do not receive an hourly wage; they receive a stipend/living allowance of $397.84 bi-weekly. Members complete a term of 300 hours of service over the course of 12 weeks. Upon successful completion of the term, members earn an educational award worth $1,311.11.
