  • Overview

    Under the leadership of the Contract Supervisor, the Contract Specialist will help maintain the billing, reporting, and expenditure processes for Salvation Army contracts as assigned. The Contract Specialist will additionally participate in contract procurement, working with the Contract Supervisor and project teams to craft proposals in response to government Requests for Proposal (RFPs), including narrative portions. They will assist in facilitating contract compliance through ongoing coordination, monitoring, development, and evaluation of fiscal and program operations.


    • Prepare reports/invoices for contracted programs as assigned and maintain records of such
    • Assist in analysis of contracted program finances
    • Assist in preparing proposals for new contracted programs as part of the government RFP process
    • Approve Accounts Payable items for select contract programs
    • Work with Contract Supervisor to ensure compliance with Salvation Army policy
    • Share knowledge of contract requirements with Contract team and other pertinent staff
    • Assist in serving as a point of contact for funders and respond timely to requests for information
    • Other responsibilities as assigned by Contract Supervisor and Director of Finance

    • Bachelor’s degree; Associate degree in accounting or business; or three years’ experience in accounting
    • Strong written communication skills
    • Computer literate and proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel), able to learn new, complex systems quickly
    • Highly organized and attentive to detail
    • Must be able to work independently and see tasks through to completion on simultaneous projects
