    Position: Junior Accountant-Senior Accounts Payable Clerk

    Department: Finance Department, 701 N. Broad Street, Philadelphia                   

    Availability of Position: Immediately

    Schedule: Full Time; 35 hours per week; Monday to Friday, 8:30AM to 4:00PM                                                                                             

    Reporting Relationship: Reports to the General Accountant

    Salary and Grade: $21-25.00 per hour, pay based on education and years of experience; 76 Non-exempt

    The position will be responsible for the processing of all phases of accounts payable for all Divisional Headquarters funds except Greater Philadelphia funds. The position involves high volume processing of invoices in an accurate and timely manner. The candidate will be required to maintain the accuracy of all disbursements by ensuring proper vendor and account codes are entered into the Serenic accounting system. He/she will be required to do balance sheet analysis and accounts reconciliations.  He/she will act as back up to the City Accounts Payable Clerk and Cashier, maintaining a back-up petty cash fund. Performs any related duties as assigned. 


    The position requires the candidate to have a degree in Accounting or an Associate’s Degree in Accounting at a minimum.  At least three years of general accounting experience, preferably in a computerized accounting environment.  The candidate must possess intermediate level competency of MS Excel and MS Word. The individual must have good organizational skills along with good oral and written communication skills, having the ability to communicate with department heads and vendors as it relates to all accounts payable functions. While an appreciation for, and understanding of, the philosophy and mission of The Salvation Army is required, being active Salvationist is a plus. If this position is a Mandated Reporter candidate must provide proof of having completed training on recognizing and reporting child abuse meeting the training standards of PA Act 153 of 2014 within 30 days of employment with recurrent training required, every five years thereafter. Candidate must complete the Child Protection Clearances required by PA Act 153 to include PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record Check.
