    Location: The Salvation Army – Bloomsburg PA Service Center

    Schedule: Part-Time 21 hours per week (3 days per week)
    Reporting Relationship: Central Regional Manager
    Salary and Grade: $11.00 per hour; 72 Non-Exempt

    Position Overview: Maintain a positive presence in the Bloomsburg Community, develop and maintain current programs of The Salvation Army, and foster food relations with volunteers and other community agencies.




    Candidate will be expected to respond courteously and promptly to all communications, provide intake and referral services for Salvation Army clients through the Bloomsburg Service Center and the surrounding areas in Columbia County, insuring confidentiality of all client information. The caseworker will provide monthly statistical reports to the Regional Manager and regular Service Unit Committee meetings and work closely with the chairperson of the Bloomsburg Service Unit Committee. He or she will also provide intake for governmental and other agency funding programs such as EFSP, maintain all records within established guidelines for each program, organize and coordinate all seasonal programs and create others as needed or prompted including Camp, Community Cares, Back To School, Thanksgiving food assistance, Sheetz for the Kidz Christmas, and all Salvation Army Christmas programs of Angel Tree, Food Baskets, and assistance with the Red Kettle Campaign as needed. The caseworker will also be in charge of office inventory management, training any new employees or volunteers, maintaining good relations with the First Presbyterian Church and will need to be self-motivated and self-directed to prioritize work and have a quick response to those in the field. The caseworker will also be responsible to attend United Way meetings and other local agency meetings as necessary or recommended to further the outreach and effectiveness in the community for the Bloomsburg Service Center. The caseworker will also perform all other duties as assigned by the Regional Manager.


    • High School Education with 5 years of experience and/or extensive work history in diversified setting.
    • Working knowledge of computer programs: Microsoft Windows, Word, Power Point, Excel, and Outlook.
    • Typing speed of at least 40 wpm and excellent telephone and all other communication skills.
    • Ability to work compassionately and effectively with persons seeking assistance.
    • Child Protection Clearances PA Act 153 requires that all prospective employees complete the following clearance and background checks:   PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check.
    • Have an appreciation for and understanding of the philosophy and mission of The Salvation Army.
