  • Overview

    Primary responsibility is to oversee the meal center and function as a driver for the Johnstown facility. This will include food pick-ups and deliveries as assigned, creating menus, light maintenance, and general oversight of the meal center.

     

    Responsibilities

    • Responsible for pick-ups and deliveries as assigned, to include the following: Treasures for Children, Bundle-up, kettles, etc. Maintenance, custodial, and panty/kitchen supply pick-ups.
    • Responsible for weekly visual inspection of vehicles and reporting of any observed damage or pending state inspection sticker expiration.
    • Responsible for maintaining fuel levels in assigned vehicles. Cleaning of interior and exterior of assigned vehicles.
    • Dress should be neat and appropriate and work conducted in a professional manner.
    • Snow removal when needed.
    • Maintain inventories and temperature logs of all foods stored, purchased, donated by USDA or FOOD BANK.
    • Responsible for preparing foods that meet nutritional and dietary requirements set forth by the respective County Health Departments, PA State Health Department and the Department of Children and Youth Services. Including creating weekly menus.
    • Clean all work related equipment and pots and pans inside and outside in accordance with Food Safety and PA Health Department.
    • Keep all floors in kitchen, walk-in freezer/refrigerator, food storage rooms, swept and clean in preparation for heavy mopping and sanitizing.
    • Replenish all condiments and utensils: sugar, pepper, salt, napkins, ice, drinks, as needed and maintain clean environment in kitchen and dining room.
    • Be able to work independently and be able to adapt work schedules to accommodate program needs.
    • Upon Consultation with Corps Officer, order all necessary supplies in accordance with the position.
    • General oversight of meal center volunteers.
    • Track monthly food orders and notify corps officers of needed items.

    • Rotate stock in food pantry and meal center. Including cold and dry storage.
    • Weigh and record food donated from Sheetz, Giant Eagle, and Bilo as required.
    • Other duties as assigned by the Corps Officer.

     

    Qualifications

    • Ability to pass the Serve Safe managers training course as provided.
    • Should be able to lead and direct other people such as community services workers, volunteers, etc.
    • Must have pleasant personality and be able to work well with other employees and must be of a confidential nature.
    • Ability to perform daily responsibilities that would include light to heavy lifting and moving.
    • Ability to work extra seasonal hours if required in the months of November and December.
    • Trustworthy, dependable, and use good judgement.
    • All three PA Clearances required upon employment and thereafter upon renewal date: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, Request for Criminal Record, and Fingerprint based federal criminal history.
    • PA Mandated and Permissive Reporting and The Salvation Army's KeepSAfe training required

    • Must have a valid driving license, and ability to pass the 12 passenger van training as supplied by The Salvation Army.
    • High School Graduate or G.E.D. equivalent with two years experience.
    • Must provide resume and be willing to have an interview.
