  • Overview

    The Residential Worker is the primary connection between the operations staff and the client. They must provide professional, protective service within the guidelines and principles as set forth in:  The Salvation Army Mission Statement, Employee Handbook, Security Manual and New York State Security Guard Law.


    • Meet regularly with clinical team and provide input towards client service planning
    • Regard yourself as part of a team dedicated to the protection of people and property.
    • Perform Daily Room and bed inspections
    • Assist in the packing and logging of belongings for AWOL residents
    • Perform nightly bed counts with house manager
    • Must be aware of and committed to The Salvation Army philosophy.
    • Must be compliant and familiar with the New York State Security Guard Act of 1992.
    • Follow all employment written policies, procedures, and security post orders.
    • Follow supervisory instructions.
    • Abide by chain of command protocol.
    • Complete all logs, incident reports, and official documents timely and as required.
    • Must be properly groomed and in uniform as prescribed by Security Department guidelines.
    • Be available to work different work schedules as needed to include emergency coverage.
    • Be available to work at any and all The Salvation Army Facilities as needed and directed.
    • Attended all training classes when scheduled.
    • Must protect confidentiality of clients/residents and all work-related information obtained in daily operations.
    • Must obtain Fireguard, First Aid, and CPR certification and become proficient in all emergency evacuation.


    • Must have at least one-year security experience.
    • Valid New York State security license.
    • High School Diploma or equivalent.
    • Strong communication and writing skills.
