  • Overview

    The Star Lake Lodge Program Director is responsible for all programming within the Star Lake Lodge.  This responsibility includes coordination with other camp departments to schedule, design, prepare and implement exciting activities for Older Adults to enjoy.  In addition, this position works with outside groups who rent the Lodge ensuring that their space, room, meals and activities are in place.  The Program Director makes sure that the mission of The Salvation Army is carried out.


    • Schedule date of Summer Senior Program.
    • Advertise schedule of summer Senior Camps to Corps and/or Social Service Centers.
    • Develop registration materials and processes to secure participants for various activities.
    • Design program content for Senior camps
    • Purchase needed materials and equipment for the Senior/Lodge programs
    • Hire and schedule necessary staff for Seniors/Lodge activities. This may include, but not be limited to, lifeguards, kitchen workers, dining hall workers, housekeepers, program aides.
    • Prepare proper paperwork for hiring of staff meeting all criteria set by Human Resources. Send all information, in a timely manner, to Human Resources.
    • Make sure that proper documents are sent to DHQ to ensure all employees are paid.
    • Work closely with Complex Kitchen Director to design menu for meals, snacks and/or special activities.
    • Work closely with Complex Maintenance staff to ensure equipment/furniture/games/elevator are maintained and in good working order.
    • Work with Housekeeping staff to keep Lodge and Leadership rooms and linens ready for use.
    • Ensure proper medical coverage is in place for each session.
    • Ensure that all activities are in compliance with current camp guidelines. Eg – proper number of lifeguards on duty during waterfront activities.
    • Schedule outside and internal groups usage of the Lodge.
    • Coordinate schedule with all departments – kitchen, maintenance, housekeeping. Make sure proper staff is in place for group usage activities.
    • Complete all necessary reports both for Salvation Army and outside agencies as necessary.
    • Design and order any items which are to be sold at the Lodge store – clothing, pens, tote bags etc.
    • Serve as a member of the Divisional Camp Council.
    • Work with Older Adult Ministries Secretary on program activities and schedule.
    • Work with Business Administration Secretary and Complex Administrator to develop and follow a budget for the Lodge.
    • Perform other duties which may be assigned and needed.


    • High School Diploma and minimum 2 years working experience
    • Experience working with Senior Adults
    • Experience working with The Salvation Army
    • Acceptance and understanding of Salvation Army mission.
    • Leadership and management experience
    • Valid Driver’s License
