  • Overview

    The Child Care Director/Ministry Assistant will manage the Orange Corps after school and Summer Day Camp and any ministry related duties.


    Duties and Responsibilities:


    1 To insure compliance with all state regulations, related to maintenance of the Orange corps New Jersey Child Care Center License.

    2 To supervise staff according to state licensing requirements and the mission of The Salvation Army and to provide or arrange professional development.

    3 To provide for the overall operations of the child care programs; plan age-appropriate activities and a schedule that nurtures children's development academically, socially and spiritually.

    4 To develop community relationships that promote the welfare of the children and recruit students, including schools, college service learning, funders, Child Care Resource and Referral Agency, Department of Children and Families, etc...

    5 To assure a parent manual and accurate records are kept; student and staff files, attendance, registrations, permissions/releases, Camp Tecumseh applications, transportation, child care subsidies (vouchers), Mission: literacy reporting, divisional statistics.

    6 To meet regularly with the Corps Officer (s) regarding program strengths and challenges and to cooperate with other ministries of the corps regarding schedule and facilities.

    7 To insure staff is ready to carry out the Emergency Plan for Child Care Center if needed.

    8 To assure compliance with the kid’s cafe of other food program agreement that may be used.

    9 To order classroom supplies as needed and as covered by funding.

    10 To work alongside the Corps Officer (s) for the maintenance of the facility.

    11 To help with food pantry when needed.

    12 Other duties as assigned by the Corps Officer (s).




    1 Bachelors Degree in any field related to children with a minimum of one year of managerial experience in child care or an alternative in compliance with state licensing regulations.

    2 Excellent communication skills in English; bilingual in French/Creole preferred.3 Ability to work independently.

    4 Sensitive to the Mission of The Salvation Army

    5 Good organizational skills.

    6 Computer literate.
