  • Overview

    To represent the Salvation Army’s spiritual & creative arts ministry in all spheres of influence within the Greater New York Division, and to assist in the development of the creative arts programs and ministry at the corps and divisional levels


    • Teach at assigned corps, four days per week
    • Assist Corps in the development of creative arts ministries (dance, drama, timbrels) at the local level
    • Identify, train, and develop local leaders in the corps that can assist or lead creative arts programs
    • Assist in the discipleship of corps program participants through the creative arts
    • Assist Corps with arts equipment, resources, and materials, and the inventory of such as needed
    • Assist with the planning and promoting of corps music and creative arts program aspects for corps worship services, concerts or other programs
    • Serve as the liaison for Corps groups/individuals participating in divisional events
    • Assess and document the strengths and weaknesses of the creative arts program in each corps and develop a teaching plan to strengthen skills of the corps participants
    • Lead or assist Divisional level and/or Railton (prep) groups as assigned
    • Participate in the development and creative process in planning Divisional special events as requested
    • Develop (choreograph, plan, lead) specific segments or aspects of the program for Divisional events as requested
    • Assist in arranging, creating, and organizing props, scenery, and costumes as needed
    • Assist in the coordination of Divisional Star Search, and divisional representation at Territorial Star Search
    • Participate and lead in Divisional summer music and creative arts camp programs including, Music & Creative Arts Camp, and Junior & Senior Conservatories
    • Participate in Territorial Arts Ministries and TAM Conservatory as needed
    • Assist in the coordination of young people for divisional and territorial events 
    • Be in the office 1-2 days per week as requested to assist with office/department projects 
    • All other duties as assigned 


    • Bachelor’s Degree in the field of dance, theater, or creative arts, and/or relevant experience
    • Active uniformed Salvationist in good standing, who will soldier at a corps in the Greater New York Division, appointed and approved by Divisional leadership
