    Location/Department: Greater Hartford Area Services, Anti-Human Trafficking (AHT)  Program (Hartford, CT)

    FLSA Status: Part-time, Non-exempt

    Hours Per Week: up to 10 hours per week

    Schedule: Thursdays*, 4:00 pm – 10:00 pm, and Fridays*, 10:00 am- 2:30 pm


    *Street Outreach begins at 7:30 pm and ends by 10:00 pm on Thursday nights. Paid work hours on Thursdays are only accrued if street outreach occurs and will only be paid up to the conclusion of street outreach.  The women’s only drop-in center is open on Fridays from 1:00am until 2:00pm. Paid work hours on Fridays are only accrued if the drop-in center is open.


    Scope & Purpose of Position: Support street outreach team by operating and maneuvering the van to safely conduct outreach at the direction of team lead. Assist with monitoring the safety of outreach workers while conducting outreach to target population. Support and maintain the safety of the drop-in center by monitoring and authorizing entry to target population and restricting access to unauthorized visitors.

    Street Outreach Driver

    • Assess and communicate effectively the ability to stop van safely for outreach team to conduct outreach with team lead.
    • Drive the pre-determined route and follow team lead’s directives to pull over, repeat route, etc.
    • Follow all traffic laws and abide by safe driving practices.
    • Assist in monitoring the area for safety while outreach team is out of the van conducting outreach.
    • Attend and participate in outreach briefing and de-briefing meetings.
    • Assist staff and volunteers in addressing emergency situations.
    • Maintain vehicle upkeep i.e. fueling vehicle, removing trash, etc.
    • Pick up and organize supplies and donations for AHT program.
    • Attend all required trainings.
    • Participate in bi-weekly outreach meetings.
    • Participate in bi-weekly supervision meetings

    Drop-In Center Guard

    • Support the operation of the drop-in center by monitoring and authorizing entry to the women’s only center in accordance with the policies of the drop-in center.
    • Assess environment for safety concerns and respond accordingly.
    • Report any incidents, injuries, or concerns to lead staff in a timely manner.
    • Assist staff and volunteers in addressing emergency situations.
    • Assist with drop-in center set up and take down.

    • Prior experience in street outreach and/or working with underserved populations, victims of human trafficking, or other crime victims is preferred.
    • Practice sensitivity and respect for individuals.
    • Assess for risk factors/red flags of human trafficking and exploitation.
    • Must be comfortable operating a large passenger van.
    • Commitment to end human trafficking in Connecticut.
    • Comfortability working with individuals of diverse backgrounds.
    • Strong communication and organizational skills.
    • Cooperative and friendly attitude.
    • Bilingual a plus.
    • Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
    • Ability to maintain ethical conduct in accordance with organizational policy and carry out business in a manner consistent with the mission, values, and policies of the organization.
