    1. Position Title


    Senior Program Coordinator


    Hours: up to 10 hours a week including Tuesdays and Thursdays 9:00 A.M.-1:00 P.M.

    Corps Officer


    1. Education Requirements


    High School Graduate with work/volunteer experience in a social service agency or group setting


    1. Work Experience


    At least six (6) months experience working with the senior citizen population


    1. Other Qualifications


    • Bi-lingual in Chinese/English
    • Be a self starter/self directed with minimal supervision
    • Computer literate in Microsoft Office - specifically Word and Excel
    • Ability to work/ have patience with senior citizen program participants
    • Have an understanding of life issues of  senior citizens
    • Have a healthy dose of humor, flexibility and understanding
    • Must have an understanding of and appreciation for the Mission of The Salvation Army
    • Active current Massachusetts Driver’s License


    1. Principal Functions


    The Senior Program Coordinator is responsible for programming, referrals to Caseworkers, recruiting and coordinating volunteer assignments and general planning of programs for the enrichment and enjoyment of program participants.


    1. Duties and Responsibilities


    1. Develop and implement safe, stimulating, interesting, positive activities for Senior Citizens. This includes development of arts/crafts, planning/scheduling activities, and planning with Corps cook on snack/meal menu development.


    1. Act as Salvation Army representative of the Senior Program to the community at large in meetings, agency contacts, and outreach efforts.


    1. Ability to work within budgeted financial program limitations


    1. Perform research and process reports when requested


    1. Assist supervisor with fundraising efforts
