  • Responsibilities

    • Oversee all aspects of soup kitchen operation
    • Create monthly menu, making sure meals are filling and nutritious
    • Prepare, cook and serve lunch Monday- Friday
    • Keep inventory of food and supplies, order as needed in communication with Corps Officer
    • Keep kitchen clean and organized at all times
    • Keep dining area clean, sweeping and mopping daily
    • Create volunteers schedule and manage volunteers
    • Supervise volunteers, giving them appropriate tasks to complete
    • Maintain all required reporting (Food Bank, Volunteers, Donations, etc)
    • Maintain all equipment so that it is clean and working properly
    • Keep statistics of people served and plates served
    • Meet food temperature standards when cooking
    • Keep soup kitchen stock room clean and organized
    • Kitchen Manager is responsible to the Commanding Officer(s) to perform any additional assignments


    • High School Diploma/Culinary Arts Program Certificate
    • Experience in fast-paced kitchen environment
    • Strong organizational skills
    • Strong management skills
    • Must be able to lift and carry 40 pounds
    • Must be able to read, write and communicate in English (bi-lingual preferred)
    • Self-motivated and directed, able to work without direct supervision
    • Maintenance and cleaning skills
    • Able to prepare food orders, inventory, planning and preparations
    • Knowledge of OSHA requirements
    • Knowledge of Department of Health Regulations
    • Able to manage and motivate volunteer workers
