    6. Principal Function

    Interview clients seeking assistance for various human service needs. Provide direct assistance to eligible individuals seeking emergency services. Make referrals to other area agencies for further services. Maintain daily records of clients including but not limited to appropriate intake application /notes and any required documents / back-up information; other forms/files/correspondence/statistical information. Support Corps in the implementation of social service programs and collaborate with other social service agencies in the community. Perform other clerical duties at the Corps.


    7. Duties and Responsibilities

    A) Casework
    a. Conduct intakes, interviews and assessments on client’s needs and eligibility for food pantry, utility assistance, etc, recording all information in the organizations social service database.

    b. Provide emergency assistance, counseling, advocacy to clients according to the needs assessed.

    c. Complete case notes and verification of eligibility for each client file.

    d. Make referrals to area agencies for further services.

    e. Schedule appointments for clientele as needed.

    f. Maintain accurate and confidential daily records of clients including but not limited to forms/files/correspondence/statistical information/ and other records as required.

    g. Complete all monthly statistical reports with respect to social services.

    h. Maintain and update regularly a roster of community resources for referrals and provide same to clients including other food pantries, etc.

    i. Maintain an internal listing of current information for all contacts at collaborative / referral organizations. (ie. Names, email, phone numbers, etc)

    j. Attend social service networking meetings as able and approved by Corps Officer.

    k. Provide input and suggestions associated with ordering of food through the Greater

    l. Boston food Bank; inform Corps Officer of other local opportunities to receive donated food.

    m. Recognize spiritual needs of persons which may require referral to the Corps Officers (who are ordained ministers of The Salvation Army).

    B) General Responsibilities
    a. Serve as front office receptionist as needed.

    b. Answer telephones in a professional manner and provide essential information as required.

    c. Perform general clerical duties to include but not limited to:
    i. Photocopying
    ii. Faxing
    iii. Mailing
    iv. Filing

    d. Keep inventory and process requests for office supplies

    e. Maintain routine reports

    f. Respond to all donations with a thank you (monetary and in-kind)

    g. Assist where needed in the operations of all seasonal social service programs (Christmas, Thanksgiving, Summer Camp, etc.) as requested by Corps Officers and DHQ.

    h. Participate in required social service, counseling, and other appropriate TSA trainings

    i. Perform other duties as requested by the Corps Officers.

    This position is part-time (20 hrs/wk) at $15/hr
