  • Overview

    The Divisional Arts director will provide leadership, leadership development, direction and curriculum for Dance and Drama Programs in the Northeast Ohio division.   It is expected that the Creative Arts Director in fulfilling his/her responsibilities will demonstrate at all times, the highest standards and loyalty to The Salvation Army and its leaders, through his/her spiritual commitment, uniform wearing, tithing, and soldiering at a corps.


    1. Assist Corps in the development of Arts programs for youth and adults. This will include visiting Corps on a regular basis to help with training of leaders and participants, being a resource for program material and helping organize new programs at the Corps.
    2. Assume responsibility for leadership of all divisional arts programs. This includes rehearsals, proposing leaders for groups, providing resources, training and performance opportunities.
    3. Work with the Divisional Music Director and Youth Dept. staff in planning the Divisional Music and Arts Camp (i.e., staff recruitment, program content, schedule, leadership, office work, preparation, and staff development).
    4. Plan and execute an intensive Divisional Arts Conservatory that highlights excellence in the arts at a high level.
    5. Work with the Divisional Music Director in the planning and implementation of the Divisional Star Search Talent Display.
    6. Provide logistical support for the Territorial Star Search Talent Display.
    7. Lead and oversee the DART group.
    8. Conduct the business affairs of the arts office under the guidance of the Divisional
      Program Secretary in an efficient and careful manner, keeping in mind budgetary and other limitations.
    9. Report statistics for divisional Arts programs, as well as review monthly statistical activity at corps level.
    10. Work with Divisional Music Director to keep Neosa Music & Arts website up to date as well as continually keeping up with the Arts pages on Social media.
    11. Attend conferences and other events as requested and approved by the Divisional Program Secretary.
    12. Participate in other Divisional events as requested.
    13. Participate in Territorial events as requested and approved, including TAM Conservatory.
    14. Maintain a calendar through Lotus Notes.
    15. The Divisional Arts Director is considered a part of the ministry team of The Salvation Army NEOSA Division. Attendance at a corps and participation in or leadership of Corps Programming is required.


    • Bachelors Degree in Theatre or Dance or equivalent experience
    • Education background is beneficial
    • Training in Dance is beneficial
    • At least 4 to 7 years of experience in the field or a related field
    • Valid Drivers License
