Availability of Position: Immediately
Schedule: Part-time (26 hours) Sat, Sun, Tues, Wed.; Flex hours
Reporting Relationship: Maintenance Supervisor
Salary and Grade: $ 13.50 per hour; 73 Non -Exempt

Description of Position: The maintenance work /driver is responsible for the overall cleanliness of the building, and for transporting residents placed into other City run housing programs.
Maintenance: Typical daily responsibilities include the sweeping, mopping, and general cleaning of assigned areas, which will include hallways, rooms, bathrooms, and offices. Performing building repairs; repair toilets, fill holes with dry wall, replace floor tiles, grout bathrooms, repair doors, shower tiles, replace light bulbs, exit lights, ceiling tiles, and paint the building as needed.
Driver: Assist women and children with their belongings on and off of the van. Adhere to all safety precautions when transporting residents. Pick up donations and food on a monthly basis as well as any other duties assigned by your supervisor.
High School Diploma or GED; Two (2) years of experience working in the Maintenance/Janitorial field including the following:
Must be a self-starter, capable of taking initiative while at the same time being responsible and accountable to other staff members with whom he or she will be working. A knowledge of and skill in cleaning procedures and processes, products and equipment. Knowledge, or the ability to acquire knowledge of basic building maintenance. Ability to perform basic repairs and safely use the tools to do so. A demonstrated awareness of surroundings and the ability to translate that to carry through on what needs to be done or problems that need to be addressed as the relate to the building and the property.
Must have a valid driving license. Must be an independent self-starter and be able to work a flexible schedule which may include weekends and holidays. Must have the ability to multi-task. Child Protection Clearances PA Act 153 requires that all prospective employees complete the following clearance and background checks: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record/Fingerprint checks. Must have an understanding of and appreciation for the Mission of The Salvation Army.
