    Position:  Shelter Monitor                                                                                                                                                

    Department:  Family Residence and Temporary Winter Women’s Shelter, Norristown, PA                            

    Availability of Position: Immediate (4 positions available)

    Schedule: 3-On-call as needed; and 1-Part-Time Temporary/Seasonal; 8 hours shifts, evenings, overnight and possible weekends and holidays; flexible days and hour

    Reports to:  Monitor Supervisor 

    Salary Grade: $9.00 per hour; 71 Non-Exempt

     

    Position Overview: To monitor and assist clients.

     

    Responsibilities

    • Enforce House Rules.
    • Must remain on floor at all times-exception is to let clients out the front door.
    • Discover and report violations or incidents.
    • Put cold breakfast food items out at 6:30 AM.
    • Routine custodial functions related to Emergency Housing and the 24 hour sheet-trash is to be removed from floor after the Day shift Monitor arrives.
    • Manage laundry facility.
    • Provide wake up calls as posted
    • Assist clients in remembering and implementing house details/chores.
    • Clerical duties related to direct service including but not limited to: 24 hour sheet, client daily report, child food care, chore check sheet, client personal sheet and monitors log book.
    • Maintain clients’ room sheet and record notes on a daily basis.
    • Performs related duties as assigned.

     

    Qualifications

    • High School Diploma.
    • Human service experience.
    • Prior residential or customer service work experience.
    • Must be able to read, write and speak well in English.
    • Must have computer skills in Microsoft Word and Excel Programs and be proficient in and the ability to utilize the internet.
    • Child Protection Clearances PA Act 153 requires that all prospective employees complete the following clearance and background checks: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check.
    • Must have an understanding of and appreciation for the Mission of The Salvation Army.
