    Location/Department: New Britain Corps (New Britain, CT)

    FLSA Status: Non-Exempt, Part-time

    Hours Per Week: 25

    Schedule: Mon & Fri, 9 am – 1 pm; Wed, 9 am – 2 pm; and Tues & Thurs 9:30 am – 3:30 pm

     

    Work with Corps Officer(s) to coordinate aspects of the food pantry in accordance with established policies and procedures.

    Responsibilities

    Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

    • Order all foods and related items for the food pantry.
    • Receive all foods when delivered, check all deliveries for accuracy, and give food invoices to the Office Manager.
    • Perform necessary errands to procure sundries and other foods as needed, including weekly trips to Food Share to purchase and pick up food.
    • Store all foods, as scheduled, neatly upon delivery in the kitchen or storerooms.
    • Maintain accurate, detailed, and up-to-date client files.
    • Attend community meetings to become familiar with local partner agency services to provide adequate referral resources to our consumers.
    • Provide supervision of volunteers.
    • Provide clients with information on external referrals to other social services agencies to meet their needs, as well as; referrals to appropriate Salvation Army programs and services.
    • Assist with planning, preparation, and implementation of all holiday assistance programs.

    Qualifications

    • Minimum of two years of work experience
    • Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to clear The Salvation Army’s DMV background check
    • Knowledge of the community
    • Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred
    • Ability to organize responsibilities and function independently
    • Excellent time management skills required
    • Demonstrate excellent ability to engage with diverse populations
    • Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing
    • Must have a high energy level and solid work ethic, as well as the ability to respond to changing conditions
    • Must work well in a team atmosphere
    • The individual will respect and promote the interest of The Salvation Army. The individual is not required to embrace the tenets of faith, but he/she is required to promote and respect the mission of The Salvation Army.
