  • Overview

    The Emergency Services Field Coordinator provides operational and logistical support to the Social Service Response Program (SSRP) including acting as the regular driver of the Social Service Response Unit (SSRU). Working in tandem with the Emergency Services Recovery Coordinator, will respond to the needs of individuals in crisis on the street providing for immediate felt needs and sharing informed referrals for further assistance. The position will be supervised by the Emergency Services Operations Manager, and supports divisional disaster preparedness, response, and recovery efforts, as needed.


    • Assist with all program operations and logistics including vehicle maintenance, driving, inventory management, supply line development, etc.
    • Maintain all relevant training certifications to include, but not limited to, first aid, CPR, AED, Mental Health First Aid (MHFA), signs of human trafficking, etc.
    • Support the recruitment and training of a local response team members, in coordination w/ the local Corps, including congregation members, volunteers, interns, employees, and Officers.
    • Attend seminars, conferences, trainings, and workshops as requested.
    • With approval, deploy to national/international disasters to support Salvation Army response/recovery effort

    • College Degree in relevant field or equivalent experience
    • Excellent interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication skills
    • Developed and appropriate cultural and religious sensitivities
    • Knowledge of and experience in the emergency management field, preferred
    • Ability to handle continuous involvement in a high-stress emergency setting
    • Valid driver’s license w/ the ability to drive large vehicles in a dense urban environment
    • Familiarity and training in working with those experiencing homelessness, dealing with substance misuse, trafficked individuals, and other marginalized populations
    • Bi/multi-lingual, preferred
    • General knowledge of The Salvation Army, preferred
