    The Salvation Army is Hiring! We are seeking individuals with a passion for helping others, and a desire to do the most good in their own community. 

    An immediate opening exists for a full-time Functional Family Therapist, which offers

    • Flexible hours with no weekend or on-call responsibilities.
    • Opportunity to gain licensure hours for clinical professions including: marriage and family therapy, mental health counseling, and clinical social work.
    • Collaboration with many other community-based organizations and school programs in Onondaga County
    • Opportunity for leadership development and clinical training/education in areas of trauma-informed practice with a diverse population.

    This position is responsible for providing functional family therapy (FFT) services to up to 12 families with youth at risk of placement between the ages of 11-17 and their families.

    • Responsibilities

      • Work collaboratively with youth and families to comprehensively assess and develop the FFT service plan including engaging and motivating families, implementing behavior change skills, and generalizing skill practice.
      • Pursue families and maintain contact with clients and implement FFT within the community, primarily at family’s homes within Onondaga County.
      • Participate in FFT and other agency trainings.
      • Maintain liaison activities with collaborative partners ie. school social workers and clinicians, mental health providers, etc.
      • Provide documentation of case activity.
      , and/or issues pertinent to after care planning.


      • Master's Degree in Social Work (MSW), Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling or related clinical field is required. Will also consider candidates nearing completion of these degree programs.
      • Licensure is preferred (LMFT, LMSW, LCSW, LMHC).
      • Valid driver's license and access to working vehicle required to provide counseling and outreach services.
      • Ability to access and navigate various physical environments, including buildings and facilities that may not be ADA compliant.
