    Position: Case Worker
    Location: Lancaster, Family Services, 131 S. Queen Street
    Availability of Position: Immediate
    Schedule: Full-Time; Monday – Friday; 8:30-4
    Reporting Relationship: Family Services Coordinator
    Salary and Grade: $42,000 annual; 10 Exempt

     

    Position Overview: To meet emergency assistance needs of clientele including Christmas Assistance. To provide direct assistance and making referrals for clients when necessary. To provide case management with the goal of moving clients out of crisis-living patterns into being more self-sufficient.

    Responsibilities

    As a case worker you will be expected to provide an array of case management services for residents. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: interviewing clients, assessing their situation, capabilities and problems to determine what services are required to meet their needs. Maintain case history and prepare reports as needed. Refer clients to community resources (when client does not qualify for direct services or needs additional services) for services such as job placement, debt counseling, legal aid, housing, medical treatment and provide concrete information such as where to go and how to apply. Develop and review service plans in consultation with clients and perform follow ups assessing the quantity and quality of services provided. Assist with food pantry as needed. Assist with Christmas assistance program and specific seasonal assistance programs as assigned. Work with Family Services Coordinator to provide volunteer training to Family Services volunteers. Keep monthly records on client’s data specifically to produce statistics for The Salvation Army and outcomes based statistic. Assist Family Services Coordinator with day-to-day functions of the Family Services Department. Attend trainings/seminars/meetings as recommended by the Family Services Coordinator. The above list of job duties is not exclusive or exhaustive and the candidate will be required to undertake such tasks as may reasonably be expected within the scope of the post.

    Qualifications

    Master’s Degree in Social Work or human services field. Previous experience in working in social services or human services. Must have excellent computer skills, including word, excel, etc.   Excellent communication skills both written and verbal. Bilingual ability (English and Spanish) preferred. Valid Driver’s license. Knowledge of cultural flexibility, competency in working with multi-cultural participants and experience working with inner-city population. Detail oriented, flexible, and able to work under pressure with minimal supervision. Must be willing to serve on boards, committees and panels.  Child Protection Clearances PA Act 153 requires that all prospective employees complete the following clearance and background checks:  PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check. Must have an understanding of and appreciation for the Mission of The Salvation Army.
