    GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB

    To further the building of the kingdom of God through The Salvation Army by processing accounting data into the Shelby Accounting system for GCAS funds.

    Responsibilities

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES.  

    1. Income
    • Via US mail and hand delivery, receive weekly income and weekly income summaries from Corps.
    • Using the Shelby Accounting System, enter income through the Accounts Receivable or Contributions Module.
    • Once items are proofed by Chief Accountant, post to general ledger and present to same for posting to the DBB.
    • Deliver cash to bank as necessary. Pay close attention at the end of the month to deposit income in the same month it was entered in Shelby. Use Deposit Now for weekly deposits of checks.
    • File income as needed.
    1. Expense/Disbursements
    • Receive invoices via US mail or hand delivery.
    • Send invoices to Area Coordinator for approval. In her absence, Chief Accountant.
    • Once approved, using the Shelby Accounting System, enter the invoices into the Accounts Payable Module.
    • Once proofed, by Chief Accountant prepare a Cash Requirement Report and present to same for approval and posting to the DBB.
    • Prepare checks for outgoing mail or distribution.
    • Work closely with Corps Officers and Vendors to ensure timely payment of invoices and resolve discrepancies timely.
    • Review vendor statements including THQ for irregularities and resolve timely.
    • File checks as needed.
    1. Payroll
    • Create on a bi-weekly basis a debit memo for Officers Allowance.
    • Present to Chief Accountant or Senior Accountant for approval.
    • Using Shelby Accounting System, enter the debit memo and finalize.
    • File debit memos.
    1. Special Projects as requested.
    2. Perform any other duties as assigned by the Chief Accountant or Area Services Coordinator.

     

     

     

     

     

    Qualifications

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

    MINIMUM EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

    High school level accounting/business courses preferred

    SPECIAL SKILLS, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

    Proficient skill in Excel and other Microsoft Office software

    Schedule and perform designated responsibilities with minimal supervision.
