    Position:  “Code Purple” Winter Weather Emergency Response Shelter Staff

    Department:   Emergency Shelter, Wilmington, DE

    Reports to: Directly to: Program Director of Emergency Shelter     

    Availability:   November 2018 (6 positions available)

    Schedule:  ON CALL - General hours are 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.;  However, evening and weekend meetings will be required as scheduled.

    Salary and Grade:  $9.25 per hour; 71 Non-Exempt

     

    FUNCTION: The function of the is to attend the security of the building and well-being of the residents.

               

    Responsibilities

    DUTIES:

    •  This is an active position, sleeping is not permitted during working hours.
    • Walk through each floor of the building for a visual inspection every 45 minutes.
    • Attend to emergency needs as they occur.
    • Report any suspected or observed abuse to Program Director.
    • Ensure that residents sign in and out as they enter/leave the building.
    • Check resident’s weapons in and out of the office.
    • Maintain a shift log recording all pertinent activities that occur on the shift.
    • Report all emergencies or problems to the on-call person or Program Director.
    • Observe general condition of the facility and report safety or maintenance problems.
    • Become familiar with the alarm system operation and response procedures.
    • Attend all Salvation Army Staff meetings as required.
    • Please note that this is not intended to be an exhaustive list, but rather a list of the primary and most common duties. Additional duties may be assigned by the Program Director as required for the efficient and effective operation of the Family Services Bureau and Emergency Shelter.

    Qualifications

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATION:

    • Must have an understanding of and appreciation for the Mission of The Salvation Army.
    • Must be able to work independently, work well with groups and be able to demonstrate good judgment and interpersonal skills.
    • You must be able to obtain clearances required by the Joseph R. Biden III and the Child Protection Act.
