    Position:  Clerical/Programs Assistant – Hamburg Office

    Department: Service Extension, Hamburg, PA

    Availability of Position: Immediately

    Schedule: On-Call/Seasonal

    Reporting Relationship: Regional Manager

    Salary and Grade: $10.50 per hour; 71Non-Exempt

    Responsibilities

    The Clerical/Program Assistant will support the Hamburg Service Center. The assistant will greet visitors, answer and transfer phone calls, take messages and refer to appropriate individuals, assist with correspondence and mailings as needed, receive donations, issue receipts, and prepare deposit slips for bank deposit, update Depository database as donations are received, provide clerical assistance as preparation for seasonal programs, update volunteer database, process volunteer applications, assist volunteers with scheduling for appropriate seasonal programs ( Red Kettle Bell Ringing, Manage Bell Ringers’ signups & maintain ‘Time to Signup’ online scheduling program for Kettle Season, Prepare Volunteer Reports & enter kettle income into Red Kettle Worker, Receive donations, issue receipts, and prepare deposit slips for bank deposit, Christmas Angel Tree program, Christmas Food Basket Distribution), and Assist staff members with projects as approved by Regional Manager.

    Qualifications

    • High School Education with 5 years secretarial experience and/or extensive work history in diversified setting.
    • Working knowledge of computer programs including Microsoft Windows , Word, Power Point, Excel, Access, and Lotus Notes.
    • Typing speed of at least 40 wpm.
    • Excellent telephone and all other communication skills.
    • Ability to work effectively with persons seeking assistance.
    • Self-motivated and self-directed. To be able to prioritize work and have a quick response to those in field.
    • Child Protection Clearances PA Act 153 requires that all prospective employees complete the following clearance and background checks: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check. Candidate must also complete the mandated reporter child abuse training.
    • Have an appreciation for and understanding of the philosophy and mission of The Salvation Army.
