We currently have an opening for a Full Time Young Adult Missions & Ministries Coordinator/Camp Ministries Coordinator.

     

    Reporting to the Territorial Youth Secretary, this individual is responsible for the continued development of The Salvation Army Hands On, Young Adult, and Camping ministries throughout the Eastern Territory.  This position would also act as liaison to Divisions with respect to these ministries – sharing resources, materials, and assisting in training opportunities as invited by Divisions.

    Responsibilities

    Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    • YOUNG ADULT
    • Promote the improvement, advancement and coordination of Young Adult Ministry Programs in the Territory
    • In cooperation with the Youth Department, (and with approval from Territorial Administration) design, implement, resource regular Young Adult events around the territory.

     

    • HANDS ON
    • Work with the Territorial Youth Secretary (TYS) to maintain a list of potential host locations at least five years in advance. Each year should include at least on “Partners in Missions” Territory.  The criteria for other host locations should be determined in consultation with the Territorial Youth Secretary.
    • Establish each fall the time line for the recruitment of Hands On Team members including the announcement of locations, release of application, and the application deadline.
    • Work closely with the Territorial Youth Secretary to establish the membership for the Hands On Team Member Selection Committee, meeting dates, and agenda.
    • Plan and implement annual orientation and debriefing program

     

    • CAMPING
    • Serves as one of the official liaisons with Christian Camping (CA) and Conference Association and the American Camping Association (ACA) and encourages Salvation Army camp directors to participate in both 3CA and ACA.
    • Organizes all Salvation Army kindred sessions at 3CA and ACA conferences. Provides input into the content of the kindred session.  Works with Finance to prepare and follow a budget for these sessions.
    • Serves as a resource to the camp directors providing assistance and information to include: changes in ACA standards, liability questions, staff recruitment opportunities, camping resources, new program ideas, international staff procedures, and, if possible, become a trained ACA Visitor
    • Work in cooperation with the TYS to plan and implement training seminars for camp directors and key camp personnel. This includes, but is not limited to, New DYS Orientation, Divisional youth Leaders Seminar, ACA Kindred sessions.

     

    • DAY CAMP
    • Develop and maintain general standards and guidelines for Corps Day Camp programs which should include best practices for staff training, program development, general safety, KeepSAfe, and administration.
    • Develop and present seminars and workshops for Day Camp best practices for divisional and territorial training events.
    • Celebrate best practice locations around the territory on Territorial Youth Department social media pages.

     

    • OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Attend and participate in all Territorial Youth events, such as DYL, Youth Holiness Advance, Old Orchard Beach, etc.

     

    • Other initiatives as directed by the Territorial Youth Secretary

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university and three to five years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Individual must be a uniformed Salvationist, whose life and actions reflect a strong relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.
    • Demonstrates time management and organizational skills, especially as relates to managing multiple projects simultaneously.
