  • Overview

    Overseeing EDS volunteers, training and response in the Northern portion of the State of New Jersey. This position is part-time 24 hours a week. Counties include Sussex, Passaic, Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Morris, Middlesex, Somerset and Warren.



    1. Support volunteers in the above counties responding to emergencies and disasters
    2. State Liaison to the ROIC for drills/exercises and emergency evacuations providing local supervision is not required in any of the above counties.
    3. Represent The Salvation Army at OEM meetings/drills in above counties.
    4. Oversee inspections on EDS vehicles on a quarterly basis in the above counties.
    5. Attend bi-weekly meeting via conference call with the Divisional Human Services Director and EDS Director to support Divisional activities where needed.
    6. Represent The Salvation Army at VOAD/COAD meetings in the above noted counties.
    7. Support/establish local VOADs
    8. Maintain and be responsible for EDS inventory
    9. Complete purchasing documentation and forward same to DHQ.
    10. Service EDS equipment as needed or required.
    11. Maintain all records as they pertain to EDS Volunteers and equipment.
    12. Conduct all inspections of EDS vehicles and equipment as required by the EDS Director
    13. Continually ensure cost saving measures are enacted as they relate to TSA purchases.
    14. Develop and maintain a working list of local area vendors.


    1. 5-7 years experience in management of disaster response operations
    2. Must become certified as a trainer through The Salvation Army National Training Program within first ninety days.
    3. Proven experience working with large groups.
    4. Transportation and accessibility to State wide events
    5. Availability to respond 24 hours



    Minimum of High School, 4 year college preferred. Certifications in basic Disaster Services through FEMA and other recognized training a plus.
