    The Foundation, Corporate and Government Relations Director is responsible for but not limited to the following: 

    creation, and management of a well-coordinated, strategic development plan to cultivate and solicit support from foundations, corporations and government sources, this position works to establish long-term partnerships, strengthen existing relationships and initiate new contacts within these sectors.  

    provides strategic direction and oversight of the Grant Writer and the Volunteer and Events Manager. 

    multiple functions associated with presenting The Salvation Army and its work and engaging current and potential corporate, private and community foundations and government funders, establishing strong relationships to increase funding opportunities and long-term sustainability, writing proposals and obtaining grants in support of programs, services, capital and other needs. 

    Increases the awareness of The Salvation army in communities across Massachusetts. Conducts and coordinates cultivation, stewardship and volunteer recruitment and recognition activities for foundations, corporate sponsors and other key constituencies. 


    Bachelor's Degree Required 

    Must have five years successful experience in foundation and corporate relations in social services, medical and/or educational areas.  

    Must be an experienced grant writer and researcher, familiar with foundations and corporations in Massachusetts and knowledgeable regarding various grant writing formats case statements, letters of inquiry/intent, full proposals and concept papers, and development and presentation/packaging of supportive documentation. Must have demonstrated success in obtaining 6-9 figure grants and gifts in support of capital and/or comprehensive campaigns. 

    Must have experience cultivating and stewarding corporate officers, foundation directors and program officers. 

    Must have experience in and demonstrable success working with program staff and the development team towards establishing and achieving identified fundraising goals.  

    Must demonstrate the capacity to evaluate and make informed and independent decisions regarding strategic approaches to each funder and for each funding need.\ 

    Must have knowledge and experience in securing federal, state and local government grants. 

    Computer and literary research skills as well as interview skills for information gathering purposes. 

    Understanding of and ability to explain complex budget and financial reports. 

    Experience managing 2 or more departmental employees. 

    Ability to attend to details, prioritize and organize/facilitate projects independently. 

    Ability to interface with and cultivate potential donors and donor representatives. 

    Capacity to work effectively with varying departments in order to build consensus and bring proposals/reports to completion. 

    Experience using a relational database and/or other tracking/reporting tools.
