    Position:  Learning Center Tutor

    Location:  York, PA Corps Learning Center After-School Program

    Availability of Position:   2018-2019 school year (August - June)

    Schedule:  Part-time, 3.5 hours per day (Monday – Thursday), After-School (August - June)

    Reports to: Learning Center Director

    Salary and Grade:  $12.50/hour; 72 Non-Exempt

    Benefits: Prorated vacation and sick time


    • Assistance with the regular ongoing homework program (grades K-8)
    • Develop and implement individualized lesson plans for each tutee
    • Maintain accurate tutee records
    • Communicate with schools and families


    High school diploma or equivalent.  Proficient in elementary math, basic algebra, elementary grammar. Two years of experience working with children in a learning environment.  Good organizational and communication skills are required, as well as having basic computer skills.  Confidentiality is a must. As a Mandated Reporter, must provide proof of having completed training on recognizing and reporting child abuse meeting the training standard of PA Act 153 of 2014 within 30 days of employment with recurrent training required every three years thereafter.  Meets the Child Protection Clearances required by PA Act 153 to include PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record Check. Must have an appreciation for, and understanding of, the philosophy and mission of The Salvation Army is required.
