    Location/Department: Bridgeport Corps (Bridgeport, CT)

    Status: Part-time, Non-exempt, Temporary (July 5-August 3, 2018)

    Hours Per Week: 10

     

    Scope & Purpose of Position:

    The driver will drive The Salvation Army’s canteen (food truck) to serve lunch at our Park Street/Maple Street outreach during July/August. The purpose of the outreach is to provide a meal while building relationships with the residents of the neighborhood.

    Responsibilities

    Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

    • Maintain cleanliness of canteen and food storage area.
    • Load canteen with food and supplies for feeding each day.
    • Drive canteen to feeding site and serve meals to individuals/families.
    • Invite individual/families that are served meals to participate in The Salvation Army worship services and activities.
    • Keep accurate statistical information and submit to Corps Officer daily.
    • Keep canteen stocked of supplies needed for each meal (food containers, bowls, cups, spoons, napkins, serving utensils, etc.).
    • Unload canteen, clean up spills, and empty and sanitize all containers at the end of each day.

    Qualifications

    • Ability to work independently as well as with others.
    • Ability to understand and follow English oral and written instructions.
    • Valid drivers’ license, ability to drive a canteen (food truck) and pass the required Salvation Army driving test.
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
    • Friendly personality & desire to serve others required
    • Experience working (volunteer or paid) in food-service required
    • Will respect and promote the interest of The Salvation Army. The individual is not required to embrace the tenets of faith, but he/she is required to promote and respect the mission of The Salvation Arm
