    The Salvation Army is hiring! We are seeking individuals with a passion for helping others, and a desire to do the most good in their own community.


    The Gathering Place for Seniors is a new social day program for seniors that will also include educational sessions AND on-site daycare for participants that care for young children during the day! 


    This program is hiring a part-time Senior Activity Coordinator, which will be responsible for planning, implementing, and delivery of the Gathering Place for Seniors Program, which will promote socialization, education, and wellness to program participants.

    • Responsible for the development, planning, implementation and promotion of all activities and programming, designed to meet the needs of program participants.
    • Plan and advertise monthly activities schedule, with goal of having calendar finalized 10 days in advance.
    • Include multiple relevant educational presentations in schedule by contacting speakers within the community.
    • Monitor and document program attendance, and take measures to increase attendance when minimum levels are not met to maintain program operation/funding.
    • Communicate programmatic concerns and successes to supervisors in a timely basis.
    • Collaborate with all staff, volunteers, and participants to ensure issues are resolved.
    • Establish Menu Plan for participants, to include a balanced, nutritious hot lunch meal and weekly family meal; order food and beverages for meal preparation.
    • Ensure cleanliness of serving area is maintained.
    • Assist with planning and facilitation of children’s activity group.
    • Complete daily attendance and monthly reports.
    • Supervise Children’s Activity Worker and program volunteers.
    • Attend required trainings, including (but not limited to) the NYS Mandated Reporter Training and The Salvation Army’s Keep Safe Training.


    • Associate’s Degree in Human Services with two years experience working with seniors is preferred. 
    • Will also accept High School Diploma or equivalent with minimum of three years working with seniors.
    • Prior experience in therapeutic recreation, activity planning, and/or menu planning is preferred.
    • Valid Driver’s License that meets The Salvation Army’s Insurance requirements is preferred.
    • Strong Organizational and Planning Skills
    • Provide Excellent Customer Service to program participants
    • Effectively communicate with program volunteers, fellow Salvation Army Colleagues, and Community Speakers invited to speak to participants.
    • Supervisory experience is preferred (specifically in a role that required performance feedback to subordinates).
