    Hours Per Week: 20

     

    Scope & Purpose of Position:

    The Summer Food Service Assistant I will assist with the preparation and distribution of lunch to adults and children at

    The Salvation Army’s Park Street/Maple Street outreach during July/August. The purpose of the outreach is to provide a meal while building relationships with the residents of the neighborhood. The Summer Food Assistant I will assist in achieving this purpose.

    Responsibilities

    Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

    • Assist with preparation of meals for adults at summer feeding program.
    • Assist in maintaining cleanliness of kitchen and food storage area.
    • Assist with loading canteen with food and supplies for feeding each day.
    • Assist with keeping accurate statistical information.
    • Assist with keeping canteen stocked of supplies needed for each meal (food containers, bowls, cups, spoons, napkins, serving utensils, etc.).
    • Assist with unloading canteen, cleaning up spills, and emptying and sanitizing all containers at the end of each day.

    Qualifications

    • Ability to work independently as well as with others.
    • Ability to understand and follow English oral and written instructions.
    • Friendly personality & desire to serve others required
    • Experience working (volunteer or paid) in food-service required
    • Serv-Safe certification required
    • Valid driver’s license helpful, but not required
    • Will respect and promote the interest of The Salvation Army. The individual is not required to embrace the tenets of faith, but he/she is required to promote and respect the mission of The Salvation Arm
