    Kingsboro Men’s Shelter MICA Program is a 143-bed facility located at 681 Clarkson Avenue, Brooklyn NY where homeless men are provided with comprehensive services to facilitate their transition into a stable housing situation. The Housekeeper reports directly to the Facility Manager. The Housekeeper is expected to maintain the appearance of the building in a clean and orderly fashion.

    Responsibilities

    • Performs housekeeping chores as assigned.  These may include but are not limited to the job description.
    • Bathroom-cleaning sinks, showers, and toilets.
    • Kitchen/Serving Area-cleaning sinks and counters; cleaning small appliances and serving utensils or serving equipment, including the steam table and cart. Bag trash after meals.
    • Dining Room-washing off tables, sweeping, and mopping.  Clean entrance of building, hose sidewalk and entrance when it’s required.  Remove ice and snow when required, remove garbage debris to proper areas.  Wash out trash cans and replace liners.
    • Work in the laundry room; filling and removing resident’s laundry from the washer and dryer, folding and arranging laundry as requested.  Serve meals to residents on the respective shift he/she is working with.  Work in the clothing room and distributes clothing to the residents.
    • Move and stock housekeeping supplies. 
    • Works to promote harmony among the property and maintain a good attendance record.
    • Assist in the packing and logging of belongings for AWOL residents
    • Attends training classes on safety procedures, including building evacuation, first aid, and all other classes scheduled by the management as requested.

    Qualifications

    • Employee must be in good physical health and must be able to work comfortably within a difficult population. 
    • Must obtain Food Handler’s Certificate within 90 days of being hired
    • Life experience along with food certificate can substitute for high school diploma.
