    The Salvation Army is Hiring!


    We are currently seeking two full-time Day Camp Coordinators to work for 7 weeks during the summer season, beginning July 2, 2018, and ending on August 19, 2018. This position is responsible for the development, management and facilitation of Bible-based programming for youth and families in the Syracuse Area.



    • Pro-actively identify and solve problems and areas of concern for staff, campers and volunteers
    • Inventory all supplies
    • Actively participate delivering summer staff training
    • Plan and disseminate weekly program schedules for all activities to staff
    • Orient all campers to camp rules on first day
    • Remain visible and accessible to staff and campers
    • Coordinate daily cleanup of all program areas
    • Prepare an evaluation and summary of current season including inventories, staff evaluations, camper reports, and recommendations for the following season
    • Contribute to staff meetings re: leadership, camper concerns, volunteer support
    • Assist in Transporting staff and campers as required to meet program needs
    • Adhere to and support all camp policies and procedures as detailed in the Staff Manual
    • Report all accidents/incidents and program concerns to the Syracuse Citadel Corps Officers
    • Maintain high levels of staff morale and conduct by providing mentorship and support to staff and volunteers New York State Drivers License Instruct, encourage and disciple youth of Corps
    • Establish and maintain positive relationships with families of children attending activities
    • Organize a weekly Bible-study and instructional activities as scheduled and VBS curriculum activities
    • Coordinate Graduation & Finale program activities
    • Provide leadership for Day Camp Counselors and Volunteer Staff Manage all aspects Summer Day Camp program.
    • Assist with transportation for Daily Trips Provide for the physical, spiritual and emotional safety of all program participants


    • Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college preferred; or, equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • At least 21 years of age with experience working with children in a recreational and/or educational setting
    • Current CPR and first aid certifications
    • Strong communication skills, positive attitude, initiative, flexibility, dependability, creativity and ability to work both independently and as a member of a professional team
    • Experience with leadership, staff management & motivation
    • Emotional maturity and willingness to serve as a role model
    • Ability to support, instruct and connect with campers and staff
    • Willingness to support The Salvation Army’s mission and values
    • Successful completion of a background check.
    • Ability to supervise staff and campers
