The Supervised Visitation Program has an immediate opening for a Preventive Services Counselor. This program offers both on and off-site supervised visitation and preventive services for non-custodial parents and their children in a highly structured environment.

This position provides supervised visits and related services to families involved in the foster care and court system. The Preventive Services Counselor will assist families in meeting the goal of family reunification as appropriate.

Job Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Provide supervised visits to families where children have been removed for abuse or neglect.
• Provision of case management and counseling to program participants
• Completing required documentation in compliance with state & county regulations and organizational policies
• Recommend appropriate support services for families, such as parenting classes, anger management, mental health substance abuse treatment, etc.

• Bachelors’ Degree in social services related field AND minimum 1-2 years’ case work experience with children and families required.
• Excellent communications skills both verbal and written.
• Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office and computer research abilities.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Ability to manage difficult families.
• Comfortable working independently while working in a team environment.
• Prior experience with NYS Connections program preferred.
