  • Overview

    The purpose of the Salvation Factory department is to help foster creativity and innovation in all aspects of Salvation Army life and ministry. This is accomplished by focusing on both renovation and innovation. The department helps with the alignment of the organization to Salvation Army Essentials while cultivating innovative expressions.

    By providing support to the department, the Administrative Assistant is not only responsible for assisting in the daily administrative functions but will also serve in assisting with event management and the transcription of vital documents. The individual will support and work under the leadership of the Co-Directors in order to enhance and amplify the mission of The Salvation Army.

    Responsibilities

    Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    • Performing administrative duties – answering phone calls, participating in meetings and taking minutes, setting up and maintaining the file system, ordering department supplies, prepare reports, draft emails and other correspondence.
    • Providing support and organizational assistance for a variety of events as assigned by the Co-Directors. This includes the pre-event phase and entail assisting with the planning aspects of the various events.
    • Accurately transcribing Salvation Army historical documents in a timely manner

     

    Qualifications

    • Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year College or technical school and two years of related experience
    • Advanced typing skills required in terms of both speed and accuracy
    • Experience in conference and/or event management
    • Strong attention to detail, organizational and problem solving skills
    • Experience working in a high volume office; ability to multi-task
    • Display initiative and a commitment to the mission of The Salvation Army
    • Adaptable and comfortable with change
    • Proficient computer skills: Adobe Creative Cloud, Apple-based programs, IBM notes
    • Basic knowledge of The Salvation Army organizational structure and terminology is preferred
    • Christian and active Salvationist preferred
    • Bi-lingual capabilities a plus
