    Position:  Outreach Coordinator                                            

    Department: York, PA Corps

    Availability of Position: Immediate                                      

    Schedule: Full-Time; Monday-Friday; 8:30 - 4:30 (flexible)  

    Reporting Relationship: Corps Officer                               

    Salary and Grade:  $16.30 per hour; 76 Non-Exempt

    Position Overview:  The Outreach Coordinator organizes and runs program/events that involve non-members of The Salvation Army. They are also responsible for the supervision of the kitchen. The seasonal responsibilities included Christmas kettles and residential camp.  They also compile monthly statistics for Divisional Headquarters. 


    The Outreach Coordinator is responsible for the following:


    Super Cupboard: Recruit participants for program; interview participants in Family Service Offices; Plan activities; Prepare for food and other materials for cooking classes; provide transportation, if needed; Maintain client records; Secure reports from participants; Develop special graduation programs, etc.; Coordinate child-care.


    Kitchen: Supervise kitchen use; Keep kitchen clean and orderly for state health codes; Order supplies, as needed; Handle all health inspections; Handle food donations; Maintain supply of dishwasher products.


    Special Projects: Coordinate Corps and Community special functions; Secure food and other material needed for those functions, such as, meals for Corps programs and Advisory Board; Secure food and drinks for Early Morning Ministry; Prepare refreshments for meetings as requested by Corps Officers.


    Other Duties: Supervise kitchen staff for Day Camp; Court appointed and Halfway House community service workers; Spock and Welfare Work Programs. Conduct and administer the Christmas kettles effort and prepare refreshments for volunteers on Distribution Day; Monthly statistics and residential camp recruitment, attendance, transportation and collection of fees and record keeping.


    This is not an exclusive list but rather an overview of the types of duties that will be required and/or assigned.


    High School Diploma or GED equivalent and minimum of two years prior work experience with food programs or pantry service, a plus. Administrative and supervisor skills a must. Valid Driver's License and able to obtain insurance clearances as determined by The Salvation Army's insurance company. Drive TSA fleet vehicles as needed and assigned. Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills with strong problem solving skills and good judgment. Detail oriented, flexible, and able to work with minimal supervision. Ability to use materials and finances resourcefully in a non-profit environment. Ability to enforce The Salvation Army policies and expectations for clients and community. Ability to recruit, train and supervise program staff/volunteers. Must understand and maintain confidentiality.  Should be self-motivated and exhibit strong initiative and positive communication skills. Ability to build rapport quickly with people from diverse backgrounds.  Knowledge of computers, Microsoft Office, Email and database systems and spreadsheets. Must be able to adapt and change to meet the needs of The Salvation Army and the community. ServeSafe, CPR and First Aid Certification must be obtained within 90 days of employment, if not current. As a Mandated Reporter, must provide proof of having completed training on recognizing and reporting child abuse meeting the training standards of PA Act 153 of 2014 within 30 days of employment with recurrent training required every three years thereafter. Child Protection Clearances PA Act 153 requires that all prospective employees complete the following clearance and background checks: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check. Must have an understanding of and appreciation for the Mission of The Salvation Army.
