SCHEDULE:            Full Time (36 hours a week) This is a Sunday (4 hours) through Thursday work schedule.  Events taking place on Friday and Saturday may require extra hours or a change to the normal work schedule.

FUNCTION: The Audio/Video & Tech Support Specialist will serve as part of the Kroc Center Admin Department.  They will function in a team environment and be a role model to both youth and adults.  They will interact with all departments on campus making sure that all the audio/video, lighting and some desk top technology needs are being meet to the highest standards and in a professional manner.  They will make sure all associated AV equipment is running at peak performance.  In conjunction, they will support productions and programming.  Through their actions, words, and work ethic they will promote the Christian faith and values in keeping with the Mission of The Salvation Army.



  • Run, maintain, and administer audio/video equipment and theatrical type lighting. (i.e. set up and operate audio and video equipment including microphones, sound speakers, video screens, projectors, video monitors, special lighting, recording equipment, connecting wires and cables, sound and mixing boards, and related electronic equipment for concerts, sports events, meetings and presentations. )
  • Set up and operate associated spotlights and other custom lighting systems.
  • Perform minor repairs and routine cleaning of audio and video equipment and lighting.
  • Diagnose and resolve media system problems in all buildings and classrooms.
  • Switch sources of video input from various locations and equipment
  • Construct and position properly all sets, lighting equipment, and other equipment.
  • Compress, digitize, duplicate, and store audio and video data.
  • If problems arise outside of normal scheduled hours, employee will record the time spent troubleshooting and report that time to their supervisor. This is not an “on call” requirement.




  • Take the lead in the technical areas for any production that is presented.
  • Work in conjunction with various personnel that are putting together plays, shows, programs, performances, etc.
  • Make sure the Sunday services run smoothly in regards to A/V and lighting.


Technology Desktop Support:


  • Technical support for 100+ workstations, this may involve Coordinating with an IT Technician or the use of outsourced support personnel
    • Repair Computers
    • Provides user support and training on PC applications.
    • Work in conjunction with the Support Technologist and Student Assistants


  • Assist in managing the wireless network on campus
  • Assist in managing Updates / Upgrades
  • Provide Support for a variety of office/network related equipment including A/V projectors, networked copiers and teleconferencing equipment


External Information:

  • Work with the Business Administrator, Marketing Specialist and Program Directors to utilize the Audio / Video equipment for informational and advertising purposes.
  • Create or coordinate the creation of these informational and advertising pieces. 



  • May coordinate responsibilities for volunteer staff and part time audio and video technicians.
  • Make sure the various programs have trained volunteers or staff running the equipment.
  • Gives guidance, leadership, and direction - Conduct training sessions on selection, use, and design of audiovisual materials and on operation of presentation equipment.
  • Organize and maintain compliance, license, and warranty information related to audio and video equipment.
  • Develop manuals or related materials for use in conjunction with production materials or for training.
  • Develop and teach AV/Technology classes for the after school and summer programs.
  • Will cross train with the Tech Café staff and provide “fill in” coverage as directed by the Business Administrator.
  • Will assist with the Red Kettle program as requested during the months of November and December.



  • All other duties as deemed necessary and appropriate by the Business Administrator or Kroc Center Administrator.


  1. A degree in audio, video, theater production or similar degree. In place of a degree the person can have at least 4 years’ experience working in an audio, video, or production field.
  2. Minimum of 2 years’ experience with desk top support or related experience
  3.   Strong creative and communication skills
  4.   Organizational skills
  5.   Able to work in a team environment
  6.   Technical abilities and experience.
  7.   Able to interact with a variety of people, groups, and personalities
